Squatter removed from new Co-op building in Bearsden
The store in Stockiemuir Avenue, Mosshead, was originally planned to open in the spring of this year but now it’s expected to open towards the end of July.
The squatter had to be removed before refurbishment work could start.

Hide AdHowever, a spokesperson for the Co-op denied that the squatter had delayed the opening of the store.
He said: “While there was a squatter in the building for a while it had little impact on the building schedule.”
The new shop, near Bearsden Academy, will create 10 new jobs when it opens and complements the Co-op’s existing store in Station Road, Bearsden which opened in 2011.
The new Co-op outlet, which will focus on fresh, healthy foods and essentials and the opening hours will be 7am to 10pm seven days a week.

Hide AdThe Co-op’s area manager Michael Mcguiness, said: “We will be looking for about 10 new people to join our store team.
“We are thrilled to be making such a significant investment in Bearsden and delighted that we will have a fantastic new food store with which to serve the community.”
The Co-operative gives profits to members through the membership dividend scheme. Members can choose to keep the cash from their dividend payment or donate to local good causes.
