Motherwell church is being investigated by police for allegedly flouting lockdown
The Hope United Church in Orbiston Street was the subject of a report on BBC Scotland’s Reporting Scotland on Monday – with footage which seemingly proved this.
An attempt on the part of a crew to find the service in full cry on Sunday proved unsuccessful however – as there was no sign of life at the building.

However a Police Scotland spokesperson was more forthcoming and said: “We were aware of reports relating to potential gatherings at a church in the Motherwell area. Enquiries into the reports are ongoing and officers are engaging with representatives of the church.
Meanwhile Gabe Docherty, NHS Lanarkshire director of public health, said: “It is vitally important that everyone takes personal responsibility and follows the latest Scottish Government guidance, taking into account the consequences of their actions.
“By following the stay at home message you can help save lives.”
