Festive Taste of Lanark returns
It is what has become one of our major regular food-fests over the last few years, the annual Festive Taste of Lanark, the 2013 event taking place on Sunday, December 15.
Organised mainly by the town’s Community Council, the idea for the event came from the realisation that, for all the modern domination of the supermarkets and fast-food chains, Lanark and the Clydesdale countryside is still a little haven of independently-produced quality food.

Hide AdBeing the hub town of a rural area, Lanark is traditionally the door to a whole larder of some of Scotland’s finest produce, from cheeses to meats and biscuits to traditional tablet.
The thought entered someone’s head that, even in these hard times, many of us still somehow find the means to put on a ‘good spread’ for Christmas and New Year and Lanark’s small food businesses should make the most of this rather than let the supermarkets take the lot.
